The Camp Roger Financial Assistance Endowment

The endowment The Camp Roger Financial Assistance Endowment was created in October of 2007.  Its intent is to guarantee future experiences for campers.  Currently the endowment is fund is quickly approaching $100,000.  Which is a fantastic start toward our $500,000 goal.  A gift of $8,000 (or a four year pledge of $2,000 per year) invested in our endowment held by the Barnabas Foundation will produce enough funds annually for the equivalent of one full campership every year...forever.  Camp Roger now has an endowed scholarship fund: the Maggie Hilbrand Memorial Financial Assistance Fund.  We are excited to have received funds in honor of long time camper Maggie Hilbrand.  Please call Doug Vanderwell (616-874-7286) if you have questions or if you are interested in giving a gift to the Endowment Fund.

In 2001 the Camp Roger Board of Directors began the "Decades of Discovery...Generations of Growth" capital campaign. The focus of the campaign is to prepare the cabin facilities of Camp Roger for many decades of ministry. The majority of the cabin facilities were built during the sixties and were badly in need of replacement. The campaign eventually was divided into three phases:

Phase I:
The cost for Phase I was $800,000 and included a significant portion of design and architectual costs. New infrastructure was constructed for all of camp (gas, water, electrical, and communication lines). And one new Boys Hill building was constructed (two summer camp cabins in one building). Phase I construction was completed in the spring of 2004. Through generous support from camp families and local organizations, we have completely funded Phase I.

Phase II: Phase II included construction of a second and final Boys Hill building. The cost for Phase II was approximately $330,000. Phase II construction was completed in the spring of 2006. Through generous support from camp families and local organizations, we have completely funded Phase II.

Phase III: Phase III, the final phase, is a brand new Girls Hill. It is the most cost efficient to completely redo all of Girls Hill at the same time as opposed to replacing the cabins one by one. We will be using a similar design to the new Boys Hill cabins. Construction was completed just in time for summer of 08 and the campaign is very close to being completed. Please prayerfully consider financially supporting this endeavor.
