Sending a child to camp for the first time is a big deal. This page will introduce you to Camp Roger, and will help you to learn what you need to know as a parent of a new camper. What Makes Camp Roger a Great Choice?- At Camp Roger, nature is integral. We don't strive to turn up the volume on your child's life. Instead, we believe that the simplicity of a game of Capture the Flag or a mucking adventure in Pickerel Lake helps to slow kids down so that they can just have fun and be ready to be filled up with the wonder of God's creation.
- Our counselors are impressive young people who know how to mentor kids in their faith while sitting around a campfire, hiking to the bog, or learning to braid. Whether being away from home for the first time or spreading his or her wings on a Pioneer trip, we want each child to finish camp feeling confident and closer to God. That's why we're here.
- We take our responsibility to keep your child physically and emotionally safe very seriously. Safety and health practices at the waterfront, on camp trips, in the dining hall and throughout camp comply with or exceed state licensing and industry standards. Camp Roger is proud to be accredited by the American Camp Association. Developed exclusively for the camp industry, this nationally-recognized program focuses on program quality and health and safety issues, and requires us to review every facet of our operation.
What Will Camp Be Like for my Child?Camp Roger's focus on relationships influences the way that kids experience camp. - Kids are assigned to their cabins by age, and spend a good portion of each day with just their cabin group and their counselors.
- Kids are also given the opportunity to make individual choices such as which morning activities they want to take, whether they want to swim at free swim or not, or what "7:10" activities to go to. Within the safe structure of camp, this allows campers to do what interests them and to interact with campers outside of their cabin groups.
- Meals are eaten with their cabinmates and counselors in the dining hall, where meals are served family style to foster interaction and conversation. Click here to see a sample menu.
- Our counselors take their jobs as role models seriously. They are intentional about getting to know each campers unique personality, strengths, and fears so they can provide them with what they need emotionally during their stay while inspiring campers to be amazing Christians.
