General Fund

The General Fund is set up to cover the cost of program supplies for summer camp and maintenance items needed for camp operations.  The General Fund provides the seemingly small, but vital things needed to make camp run smoothly.

Financial Assistance for Summer Camp

Camp Roger doesn't want a financial barrier to stand in the way of a prospective camper.  There is a sliding scale for registration that helps with the affordability for families.  Since 2004 the need for financial assistance has increased tenfold.  For some families the amount of need is $50 or $100 and in other cases the need is greater.  By giving to the Financial Aid Fund you will be helping more kids have the opportunity to come to camp.

Financial Aid Endowment

Through the generosity of donors, Camp Roger has established the Maggie Hilbrands Financial Assistance Fund.  This fund was established in honor of Maggie in 2007 after she lost her life at only twelve years old.  Maggie was a long time camper of Camp Roger and her family chose to honor her by helping other kids have the opportunity to come to camp.  As the endowment funds mature, they strengthen Camp Roger's ability to serve more young people.

Financial Assistance for Outdoor Education

Since the start of the Outdoor Education program in 2000 over 10,000 students come to camp each school year.  Tighter school budgets prevent field trips for many students.  The goal is to help schools serving economically challenged student populations experience a day in the woods.

Capital Campaign

To date Camp Roger has had three phases of a Capital Campaign.  Each phase has been completed, and were funded by generous donors.  A majority of these phases was the replacement of cabins from the sixties.

Phase I

The cost for Phase I was $800,000 and included architectural costs, new infrastructure for all of camp, and one new building on Boys Hill housing two summer camp cabins.  Construction was completed in 2004

Phase II

The cost for Phase II was $330,000 and this was for the second building on Boys Hill.  Construction was completed in the spring of 2006.

Phase III

Phase III was a new Girls Hill.  It was the most cost efficient to replace all of the buildings at the same time.  Three buildings were completed in 2008 just in time for summer.

Stay tuned for future plans.

Stock Transfers

Giving appreciated stock is a win-win for you an Camp Roger.  You receive gift credit for the fair market value of the stock regardless of what you paid for it originally.  This will help when it comes time to do your taxes.

IRA Distributions

The United States Congress DID NOT extend the IRA Charitable Rollover tax relief provision which had been renewed for the 2010 and 2011 years.  For several years this had been an attractive charitable giving opportunity for individuals over the age of 70 1/2 years to make gifts directly out of their IRA's without recognition of income.  We will inform our supporters should this opportunity to support Camp Roger resurface.
